Excel 2007 Fails Basic Computation Test??

According to this article from Foxnews.com, Microsoft Excel 2007 has been discovered to have difficulty multiplying and displaying numbers whose product is either 65,535 or 65,536 (such as 77.1 x 850, or 20.4 x 3212.5), displaying 100,000 as the product instead. Microsoft programmers are working hard to fix the problem, of course.

Mathematicians and computer programmers will find it interesting that 65,536 is equal to 2 to the 16th power, and (while this will probably seem esoteric to some) the number is significant in binary computer code.

Further information from Microsoft (and a litany of blog dialogue) can be found here.

This is the 100th post on my blog. Neat.
